IMG_8608Hello and Welcome to my professional webpage! My name is Amanda Johnson. I am a graduate of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky., where I majored in broadcasting and minored in sales. I am an extremely passionate individual with a variety of interests and skills.

As cliché as it sounds, I firmly believe that knowledge is power. For as long as I can remember, I have picked up the Sunday paper after my parents finished skimming through the coupons and sports articles.

I saw my local news anchors as celebrities and tuned in to watch their most recent performances each night. At the age of 15, I began contributing photos of house fires and floods to local news stations in Nashville, Tenn.. However, I never thought I could be the person to write a newspaper, anchor a newscast or take the photos that adorn front-page articles. I had no idea that colleges offered majors for broadcasting and journalism.

My entire life I assumed I would be a teacher, a lawyer or sit in a cubical with all my other colleagues waiting for 5 o’ clock to roll around. I began my college career studying elementary education. Everyday when I finished reading my textbooks and doing hours of arithmetic and other seemingly useless homework, I would tune into the news and truly gain the knowledge I wanted.

I have a passion for current information; information that will some day grace the pages of a textbook. The only passion that may surpass my love for knowledge is my love for stories. I love telling and hearing stories alike. After almost 2 years in college, my love for information and stories and my distaste for math and lesson planning, led me to change my degree path to broadcasting.

I started learning from the celebrities on my favorite news stations, I began contributing pieces of media to my own news stories, and I began doing something I truly loved. My thirst for knowledge and story has pushed me further.
